In February 2005, CBPE invested £15m to support the MBO and re-financing of Waltons, a leading UK manufacturer and supplier of timber sheds, play houses and summer houses. Waltons manufactures more than 100,000 garden buildings at its site at Sutton-on-Trent, near Newark. It sells principally over the internet and also through DIY multiples, independent garden centres and catalogue retailers. The majority of its products are delivered direct to the customer, avoiding any need for the retailer to hold significant stocks or manage the complex logistics required to deliver these products. The business employs around 150 people.
