In February 2005, CBPE invested £15m to support the re-financing of Waltons, a leading UK manufacturer and supplier of timber sheds, play houses and summer houses. Waltons manufactures more than 100,000 garden buildings at its site at Sutton-on-Trent, near Newark. Its main customer base is the DIY multiples, but it also supplies independent garden centres and catalogue retailers. The majority of its products are delivered direct to the customer, avoiding any need for the retailer to hold significant stocks or manage the complex logistics required to deliver these products. The business employs around 150 people.
